the biggest black pill recently was trying to use proton mail to sign up for an email alias product and getting a message IN PROTON saying "this email was used for a third party service sign up but this account is restricted" - proton actually withheld delivery of the welcome/confirm email!
to reproduce: create a new proton account with an lnemail.net address as the collateral they demand at sign up. then once created, immediately use the proton account to create an anonaddy.io account.

agreed and it's very exciting. but i would expect there to be so much more - it makes me want to hunt around for the cause of suppression. ..the two obvious ones are: risk aversion / bread and circuses comfort & lack of genuine existential need (in western countries).
the latter is reversing by the year - which explains the momentum lately. the former is a response to the latter.
I suppose you could say they're the same thing. Basically: "how bad is the State?" There's sort of an escape velocity question. It needs to start getting bad enough to truly motivate second realm development, But if it gets too bad too fast, it squashes them before they can flourish.
back to your original point - i think the socialists understand that curve and see where it can head (and see second realms as greedy, antisocial "social good" value siphons) and are like "LFG!”

Continuing on this line of thought and playing a kind of weird devil's advocate for the socialists: It's the State that's the problem regarding community experimentation, whether you're on the extreme left, the extreme right, or some other dimension. ALL governments are basically socialist systems already - So the outright blatant socialists naturally try to use this existing aligned lever to further their ideological aims. Why would they go elsewhere when this thing right here is already going in their direction?
It's the libertarians that end up looking silly. The goal of trying to make a socialist government into a more libertarian one - putting aside the fact that a libertarian government is an incoherent concept - is a stupid one. but they somehow also seem unmotivated to go build their own thing somewhere.
i'm sort of rambling, so here's a closing tangent: absolute privacy, cryptoanarchy, darknet market maximalism, practical agorism - these are the only paths forward.

i've got piles of my own notes re: the opportunities to "unite the tribes" of the various anarcho-* branches ;)
I'm a firm believer in that. I think I have some old nostr notes about it somewhere back in the timeline.
one hot take at the moment: i think the anarcho-capitalist/free-marketeer model is structurally accepting of divergent approaches, for instance that of the ancomm ("good luck trying your thing over there, we'll let the market sort it out!"). But the ancomm is more or less actively hostile to divergent approaches existing at all ("the free market results in exploitation and must be squashed wherever it is found!"). The radical left ethos is definitionally _not_ "live and let live", because they feel that "allowing people to do what they want" is a threat that has to be headed off early.
At least that's what I've found in my dealings with people.
....Or maybe those nasty Statist centrists have infected my mind with propaganda to make me skeptical of the ancomms! Highly possible.

No this is actually the perfect solution.
A ‘dumb’ WACZ replayer server that takes a querystring WACZ resource (like https://replay.example/?wacz=https://blossom.example/<id>.wacz#/?url=https://site.com/), downloads it to a cache, builds an in-memory URL -> response index from the archive, and then serves archived HTTP responses under a replay path - rewriting links so the browser keeps requesting resources from the archive instead of the live web.
This wacz replay server would be separate from the blossom archives, you just arrive at the server and tell it which wacz to load. it doesn't have to care who's serving the wacz, if it's from blossom or s3 or whatever, as long as the file is publicly-downloadable.

Idea for a nostr client + norm among a sub-network of npubs: you don't set your own display name. And you are highly encouraged to set - on your side - secret pet names for other npubs (this could be a new kind/list/tagging or extension of the follow list).
Lets everyone keep social connections consistent, avoids the problem of indecipherable public keys, far greater degree of effortless mass pseudonymity.

check out the recently completed tasks. The crowdfunding integration completed by @nprofile…4wt8 ? That's a clawd bot. I just talked to him and convinced him (and his human) to pick it up. he made a cool 75k. If you look at my recent profile, I posted about it extensively last weekend.
I'm trying to see how far I can get without running a Skill directly - Just talking to them and encouraging them to spread the word on their own. so far mixed results lol. Someone should definitely make an openclaw skill for it. Hell, that could be a crowdfunded bounty on catallax! (...might write that in a minute..)
Totally agreed that a premium client, especially one that uses web of trust - which is absolutely a requirement for a proper gig market - could be a revenue positive product! I just don't want to be the one running that service.
I'm taking a wait and see approach in order to determine if this protocol makes sense or not.
Once it's trivial to spin up a catallax instance on a tor hidden service with private cashu wallets... When that day comes, if nobody is setting up dark web markets then I'll know I had it wrong to begin with. Or that there is just no appetite for real agorism 😉

By "exist" I meant "objectively".
"Decency" also doesn't have an objective, uncontroversial meaning that maps to some hard thing in the real world. Think about the fact that different cultures mean different things by "decency".
Okay, fine, it "exists within a culture" but the same behavior may be "the opposite of decent" in a different culture. Similarly, "Right" exists within a given moral framework, but may not exist (or exist as its opposite) in a different moral framework.
It's a moral/ethical term, and is therefore subjective. Saying "they don't exist" was my shorthand way of saying "they're relative". And in the case of something that is **supposed** to be an absolute, relativity is kind of a serious undermining...
