yeah. the online version will come first. it will only be single player also because there is no point putting people together until they have a skill level established. the game engine already is designed to keep tempo with the skill level of the player, in fact most of the game has already been made. i don't want to drop it without the book to go with it though, as the two things are connected and the book gives you models that you will be able to build up the bonding between the two maps, the game structure, and the theory it is related to.
the game really should be fully fleshed out first though. so, new players can only play against the dynamically adjusting strategy of the computer player. once the player's track record is determined and their skill at all 5 elements of the game are established, then the game can use nostr events containing players scores to evaluate users to find partners who are able to help the player build. so, if you are shit at fire, but good at wood/water/metal/earth, a player who is shit hot at fire, but not so good at the ones you are good at, you have a good match, as your different play styles will complement and help you train up more. the levels will count too, players will be matched by their scores cumulative sum being within a close range, so you are paired with someone who isn't going to knock you over instantly, or you them.
yes i thought it through deeply already, two weeks ago. i am so looking forward to unleashing it.

i've got an interesting game designed that is based on the principles of Go combined with the Wu Xing diagram (pentagon with reverse star inside it). it's part of a complete multidisciplinary package that goes with a book i'm in the last stage of editing out the AI voice that built the structure and put decent content in it. the book is called The Manipulation Protocol and the game ties in with the whole structure of the theory and teaches you how to think in wu xing, and as well, the book has a psychology oriented model, a machine learning parallel model with it, it has this model melded with ba gua zhang, systema, and some other internal martial arts, showing how the same map works with those different martial arts, and the game is the last piece which teaches you strategic thinking with the same model.
i'll probably have the revision done in a few weeks, and i'm going to make a decentralised production system for producing the parts of the game so it can expand to multiple providers for each part and protect it against regional instability causing supply breaks. the book, too, i will start with a platform, but probably expand it to run on nostr marketplaces as well, and find a few print-on-demand providers to enable resilient access to the physical hard copy, make a bundle, as well, where you get the game and the physical book in one package.
and yes, the game, i will make a web app based version that you can play in real time on nostr.
it's gonna be absolutely killer this book. i hope i can get it all together soon. i think it will be a viral sensation.

there is an error in thinking that is naive and almost universal.
looking at the states (zero crossings) instead of the peaks (which is one more. 2 dimensions, 4 "states" and 5 transitions between them.

how do we apply countermeasures? first is wallets and coin control. second is pushing for a new legacy p2pkh using schnorr. deprecate segwit and taproot and fork everything to drop in replacements that use quantum safe p2pkh, enforce one tx per secret key. migrate/upgrade lightning to use the new hash protected schnorr and if one company could get 15% node adoption, we can do the same as a mass and drive miners to upgrade.
segwit -> taproot -> covenants is the cooption path to turn bitcoin into a shitcoin ponzi enabler. right now there is no competing initiative.

it was almost a year of frequent spikes in fee rates thanks to blockstream pushing taproot with its unlimited witness push, that really harmed reputation and price as a hard asset. between segwit and taproot, the marks of attempting to turn bitcoin into a stock market order book processing system are obvious to anyone.
none of this is helping, and it's my view, that what we need, more than anything, is a new reference implementation, with all of the efficient algorithms in core, but in a more accessible language, and a more open, modular design that encourages more devs to join the work and continue to improve the defence of the monetary use case, and deprecating the infestation of fiat shitcoinery, and to effectively apply pressure against this shitcoin non-monetary use case by sheer force of numbers and squeeze more and more of that trash to the back of the mempool queue, forever.
i'm not well funded or promoted to do this work, but i know the codebase of btcd and btcwallet, inside and out, i did a massive, comprehensive fork for a PoW bitcoin fork back kin 2018-2021, and i have long wanted to fork all of that shit, btcd, btcwallet, and lnd, all of them primarily presided over by one of the "coinventors" Olalua Osuntukun aka Roasbeef, and having tried to contribute PRs to resolve outstanding issues, important ones for deveolpers, especially, and been stonewalled and ignored, i basicallly gave up on it, but i can say right now that if you offered me 24k euro annual pay, ideally weeklly, i would fix all of that shit and make it BETTER than core, in every way. faster, less buggy, more user friendly, more privacy protecting. without a second thought.
but of course, tptb don't want htat, and it should be obvious that Warsh saying "i'm not afraid of bitcoin" means their strategists are confident that their ongoing compromise of the protocol, and the userbase, is far from showing any signs of failure, and those who could fund the work i could do, do not want to, and those who would want to, can't.

yeah, i had the same thought too and it was largely true. but i think the picture has changed, because the players in bitcoin market now still are essentially not seeing bitcoin as a commodity, and so they race to gold and silver first, as it's written in all their texts that it's a hard commodity, but none of the texts or writers or podcasters are saying this about bitcoin in fiat casino land.
note that while the metals went sharply up first, they also went sharply down first. the typical advice pegs bitcoin as a "keep 1-5%" asset, and so, when leveraged bets on metals went south, they liquidated this "unimportant, volatile, commodity-like asset", which then has triggered a liquidation cascade that we are seeing now.
as far as i can tell, the whole 58k gang meme is about what the price level is in this cycle. the people who are holding, bought in under there, and they aren't selling. but the fiat finance "get your 1-5% allocation" followers, bought in at that level so they are under water.
once all those clowns are flushed out, it will bounce violently.

just like me at age 4, sneaking away from my dad's workshop with a saw or a hammer or something, going out into the garden and using it on trees and plants, or scraps of building materials. i got into so much trouble for that.
what was painful for me was that he never saw himself as a teacher, and my demands to be taught, as frivolous, even pahtological distractions. or, sometimes he would "try" to teach me something, and it bored the shit out of me because i never got to use my hands to do any of the work.
and it only continued as i discovered, in australian society, the thing that the socialist politicians want to control most is wage prices, and so to pump the wages for workers, to make the numbers in the financial reports good, they deliberately cultivate a population of idle people who they pay to stay unemployed, and of those, some are kept in that box their whole life. i got to age 36, and the only ongoing employment i was ever able to hold for more than a year at a time, every 5 years, or so, was when i just went out and adveritsed my services as a tech support, and i was an absolute fire tech support and trainer, i could not reach enough customers to become financially independent.
so, you see where this goes in my mind. the more you can make the child feel like they are doing valuable work, the more you prepare them for their adult life. this is why to many i seem like a child, with poor discipline and time management.
i was denied the responsibility. i only got hold of it because i figured out their game, found a hole in their system, used i to acquire the funds, to move to another country, where i quickly discovered htat everywhere else in the world, it's easy to get work.
not in australia, and certainly not for a compulsively curious, and constantly ridiculed and bullied individual like me. they stole 30 years of my life. so i am saying all thtis, ot reinforce my point, about how harmful it is to a child to not give them work. and i could also point out the same thing happens with dogs, and the reason why i hate people's pet dogs yapping in their yards so much, a) it's irritating, and distracting, b) the animal is clearly distressed, which triggers a mirroring response of that pain in me, and c) it's a microcosm of my suffering in life.
dog lovers don't get that. but i can guarantee you that if you actually lived around a lot of them, the forced idleness and confinement, in some cases, never let out of a tiny enclosure next to the house like in Madeira, is for me the symbol of the neglect of life that fiat promotes.

i encountered this issue exactly a couple years ago while working for a shitcoin project. the "smart contract" programmer could not understand why it bothered me so much this business of all the data being online and some "smart contract" doing things that should only be done by humans.
shitcoiners main damage is they do not understand the concept of self custody. the whole trajectory of shitcoins has been about slowly, quietly, rugging the users of their agency and ownership. and imagine how much worse it is now, during that 2 years, 2023-2024, as LLMs were starting to mature enough to be useful, they were all champing at the bit to shove all of the "work" to agents powered by LLMs that are basically black boxes, we still don't even fully understand how they work, btw.
the first step was segwit: creating a way to increase block size and shove arbitrary crap in it.
second step was taproot: with no push limit for witness, they were able to put media filles onto the chain
third step, the shit they shove into the witness is binary code compiled from some Rust based "smart contract" language like the ones i was being nagged to learn how to code, which are the most convoluted, useless programming languages ever made. literally glorified database programs. these require a mechanism like OP_CTV to enable.

haha. yeah, i think partly why i always got caught in smiles was because she would coo to me while she was making the shots. this one time, i just was wanting to get dressed again and she had trouble probably because it was a close shot and maybe took a bit to get the lens to focus right, and adjust the aperture etc.
mobile phones are always so pretty and glossy and shiny and have these strange lights on one side with shapes and colors and all that. maybe it would be worth gettting a camera camera, i remember my mother had this tiny silver sony camera with 3x zoom or so, it took great photos, and a dedicated photo taking device would be differentiated from the phone which is constantly around.

one of the things i am looking forward to, in the even that the global disaster does strike while i'm still alive, is applying all of the science i know, especially chemistry, i want to learn how to make ceramics, glass, refine and forge metals, and similar, as these will be very necessary things to be able to know how to do, and not many people have the memory for the general principles and a sufficient amount of this knowledge that i can "rediscover" how to do things, and help my tribe re-establish the required technologies in order to survive better and be able to live healthy.
of course, if i had the money right now, i'd already be learning these things, and i have in mind that the first priority is animal husbandry, because, like Noah, i'm gonna have all the small ruminants and land fowl (maybe pigeons too) which have so many uses, the meat, the fats, the bones, the hides and the hair and feathers. this is where i'm going to be focusing first, with sheep for meat and milk and insulating wool for clothing and padding and liners.
after that, i want to start learning how to build furnaces and kilns, i want to learn how to make charcoal for purification, and carbonise natural fibres to use to strengthen cements and polymers for non-metal reinforced construction, and start to learn how to recycle and reforge metals. mostly copper, tin, zinc, lead and iron, as especially iron and copper, are critical materials for tools and weapons, and yeah, furnaces can be used to extract fairly pure potassium hydroxide, which can be used to make soaps, and other materials too, like making lime for cement, out of bones.
i don't want to see out the end of my days, and not see a forge, soap making, and all that other cool stuff, not already into process with all the babies being born and people learning how to hunt, cook, forge and craft local materials into essentials for life.
i also have realised i really really really need to get better with calculus and number theory. i watched a great presentation that explained number group theory, and i was like, oh, it's about symmetry and stuff like commutability, identities, and such. so i'm gonna be digging into that too. and i want to build a collection of physical books, and make sure they are secure, and amply redundant copies so that when we have no more market or big human population to provide us with education, i can do somehing towards propagating that.
i want to do it anyway, even if the disaster doesn't my lifetime. i want to be able to be in such isolated places, and for our tribe to thrive.
that's why i talk about the science stuff so much, especially chemistry and physics. our modern world is what it is because of all the curiosity and questions of smart guys, and it would be terrible if for whatever reason, too much of that gets lost. this is also why i feel blessed with this crazy good memory, and visual thinking ability. i will be indispensible to anyone needing to find ways to solve problems and make life better when there is no more factories or mines or shops to buy things. for that all to be useful, i have to prioritise what i acquire strong experience in too, so that with that most concretely useful part of my knowledge, enabling actual survival...

my mother took many photos of me as a child, there is even one photo of me about a month old or so, all red and rosy from a bath, but almost every photo she ever took i was grinning like a buddha. excep this one, where i'm on a blanket on the ground, arching my arms, head and legs upwards so all my weight was on my torso, and i had a frown on my face. she told me that she was spending a lot of time fiddling with her SLR film camera and i stopped smiling and had angry face.

almost everything that you put on your skin leaves a coating of residue, firstly, that's why hair and skin smell like the shower gel/shampoo afterwards.
the sulfur that is bonded to the (synthetic) fatty acids (refined from petroleum) are fully saturated, long fatty acid chains, and so they are more polar than plant/animal fats (stronger oil dissolving ability) and the sulfur bonds to one end of it, forming a negative pole to the molecule, making it highly soluble in water.
so it penetrates into your skin a lot further, and the whole reason why so many products say "SLS free" and similar declarations is because this has been found to decrease the control your skin (under the dead layer) membranes have to stop harmful chemicals.
you may have heard of stuff called "DMSO" which is a close relative of the substance MSM (internally, both have similar effects), and famously Abbie Hoffman, in his book Steal This Book suggested the idea of mixing LSD with DMSO, as the amount of LSD required to dose someone is in the range of 100-200mcg, a tiny flagment of the size of a fine salt grain, and painting this mix onto the door handles of houses and cop cars (Jello Biafra wrote a song about it titled DMSO) and in the song he mentions "mix it with lemonjuice, put it on your fingertips and you will taste the lemon".
now, that sounds bizarre and kinda unbelievable, but i am pretty sure it's true, because back in the bad old days, i used to inject methamphetamine, often contaminated with solvents, especially acetone, and when we pushed the plunger down and got all of it into the blood, within about 5-10 seconds you'd get this cold/hot sensation in your throat as the blood carried it into your lungs, and the low boiling temp acetone would get into your air, and then you felt it in your throat.
so, it's the same thing, and the same element (sulfur) which is extremely polar (there is no saturation level of mixing between sulfuric acid and water, you can drive almost all of the water off to get what is called "oleum" because it is very oily and viscous), and in fact, without at least something like 20% or so of water in it, it actually isn't corrosive, unless it gets on something with water that it can dissolve into. which ultimately will happen with a little time if you get it on your skin.

my mother was a huge fan of pressure cookers. they cook so fast because of the amount of heat water holds and the fact that it gets above boiling point. in an open pot it would get to about 90-95'C but in a PC they can get over 120 and that is a lot more increase in energy than you realise (it's maybe 20x as much or some number like this).
also i saw this great little DIY how-to make a waterproofing treatment for sheets that made them superior to commercial tarps, and he said "use the lowest setting so you don't make the wax/oil mix smoke up" and while it may seem like it's great it's gonna be quicker, higher temperatures can damage the proteins more. my mother never made jam in my memory, but mostly what she cooked in it was meat and high protein plant foods, and those are fine to heat well past 150-200'C. pectin, however, i don't think it will gel up as well if you overheat it.

- Release pressure, add sugar and pectin, then boil briefly at normal pressure to set
- If using the fruit's natural pectin, slightly increase the amount of high-pectin components (pith, seeds in a muslin bag)
The technique works well — you get tender peel in 10-15 minutes instead of 1-2 hours, with minimal pectin loss if you time it right.

i mean, kinda weird, i'm so used to "cafe bar" as an institution in portugal and all across the balkans, where most bars serving beer with tables also will have a coffee machine and will make you a tea.
i mean, ok, i usually want a beer when i go into such a place.
i spent a day in Galway, so damp and cold, i was getting sick. takes some adjusting to the climate there, so wet. not really surprising to me that carbonized grass sunk under persistent pools of water around the place, was a primary fuel for so long. dublin wasn't the worst city i have ever been in, to be fair. but having said that, one encounter i had while walking around looking for a homeless shelter, this little crowd of 20 somethings were acting like a bully gang and knew absolutely nothing about me through the fence to whatever it was they were working on.

compilation times are only faster if you eliminate the download and compilation of the dependencies. sure, you only have to deal with it one time, but i'm just gonna say, that the cargo build system is almost a carbon copy of the system that Go uses, except it clutters up your repos with `target` directories that are typically in the gigabytes, not dissimilar to node_modules

it's hard to read, overly complex, and abuses the use of MMU immutability flags for no reason. and there is no coroutines or atomic fifos (channels) and it takes as long to compile as C++
nostr-rs-relay takes almost exactly as long to build as strfry, and my relay, from scratch, with a totally cleared out module cache, takes about 35 seconds. those other two relays take 11 minutes on a 64gb system with SSD and 6 core 12 thread ryzen 7.
if you had got used to the 3-5 second typical rebuild time after editing code that i have been doing for the last 9 years, you would laugh in Golang.

also, awesome, orly blossom service already supports the BUD-11, and can be made to require it. so does smesh.

my opinion is that two things:
optional RECOMMENDED adding blossom server URL tag

yeah, confirmed. blossom auth, nip-42 auth, and nip-98 auth implemented on orly all will ignore unrecognised tags as well, so trying it wih extended tags is also not going to disrupt anything.
major newbie developer mistake that i see so often, and had to learn not to do myself, is make things overly complex when trying to solve a problem. always try the shortest, smallest changes first that satisfy the requirements, and only if it is evidente further measures are required, start to look at complicating things.

furthermore, i'll wager that with few exceptions, auth events are accepted only based on the check for presence of a set of tags, and that other tags are just going to be largely ignored.
orly blossom service already will just ignore anything it doesn't understand, so long as the signature is valid and the required tags compliant with the BUD are present.

in anticipation of this, i have already enabled the orly blossom service to allow the presence of the realy tag, or require it, and smesh will try with it first, and then without it as a fallback for blossom servers that don't support it.
i'm gonna dig my heels in on this nostr web token idea because it's my firm opinion that nip 98, 42 and now bud-02 all are using such a generic format for it, that merging it together seems to me llike an unnecessary complication of protocol handling, since no relay can be credible without verifying event signatures anyway, no client that is actually usable doesn't put correct signatures on events, and at least, thank God, blossom spec has auth in it for the reason it's obvious how easily an un-authed media server can be shut down by flooding it with junk, or worse.

another issue around this is that there is no capabilities/compliance like the relay information document. how are you proposing to handle the transition? seems to me like it would force clients to try one way, and try another way, and then, maybe try another way again with these "nostr web tokens".
seems pretty straight forward. i'm just gonna put the ability to require that into relay configuration and the blossom service in orly, make my client do a retry after trying with it, to trying without it. that covers all the realistic cases i see.

ok, i looked into it.
i remember discussing this issue in a general way about both nip-42 and nip-98 and how the strict requirement to name the server URL was restrictive in other ways. i forget what my final thought on it was though.
i disagree that there is anything more required than making that field optional to prevent this issue.
the other point i'd make is, yeah, if you don't have a pecuniary relation with the blossom server, there's no incentive to not take privileged data and abuse it. a paid service doing this would be completely insane. buttt
like all the nostr auth insanity that is finally starting to dissolve thanks to moltbook, people are starting to realise that it's quite important to have incentives for providers and users to have a mutually beneficial economic relationship.
also, this "vulnerability" is very narrow. the blossom provider has to use it immediately because there is still a time window of validity that target hosts may not respect.
secondly, how the heck is the blossom provider going to, in that short period of time, determine where else to look?
very overstated vulnerability. not worth complicating the protocol. just make the provision that the blossom provider can require this, and clients, that this be added, the tag, which is present for all others.
in fact, i'm going to revise smesh and orly to require this, despite the fact that i half expect you protocol engineer activists to contradict this solution with piling on another big complex shit to it.
