You'd have to define funding and all that but I'm sure there are rough numbers. Either way, I see no reason to give them a dime. But to be clear I mean in defense terms. I don't necessarily think the federal government should give states anything (especially since it's coming from state citizens anyway, or debt), but I do think military defense is a duty.

I typically go with whatever the app maker recommends. RPM is common. Flatpaks are common. AppImage is less common. Sometimes you get a tarball but that is way less common than it used to be. Flathub (as a flatpak source) has gotten a lot better, but I like to make sure a Dev is the one who actually posted software there or it was done by a trustworthy group. Of course there's some trust there. Can't escape that.
Building from source is probably the safest route but it is more time consuming.

I think the point people should take home is that if you're going to do it, don't assume 50% LTV is good enough. You better be prepared to lose the sats or go a lot higher on the collateral. And you could lose it all anyway. Risk management is key, and I don't think most people should do it. Especially if you have provable fiat income and the loan is for something like a car or house. Just let those things be the collateral in that case.

Having experimented with one around 100k (lol), I agree. The stress isn't worth it and you never really know where the top and bottom are. I figured we were close to the bottom when I did it. Fortunately I went in with a plan and limits. But I could easily have been rekt if I didn't way over plan. Like stupidly over planned (or so I thought).
I probably won't do it again. It isn't worth the energy for me. I don't like babysitting my finances.

But I disagree that voluntarily funded government as a concept is wrong. Taxation, yes. The anarchist point of view is naive, in my opinion. Someone will rule. The question for me is who rules and according to which system. War lords or whichever gang has the most might? Or a structured system like a Constitutional republic in the US. I prefer the latter. I simply do not see a scenario where every human on the planet just lives in peaceful anarchy. I don't see rape, murder, theft, etc disappearing if we remove systems of law. People will just form crude governments again, and I suspect many of them would be worse than what we have now.

The cap gains taxes would be the income tax aspect, but that's just another income tax on individuals rather than a corporation. That's part of my point.
I didn't consider a company not paying out all profits to shareholders or owners. But even taxing that still is just a tax on the individuals who actually own that capital.
What I'm saying is that the entire concept of a corporation is one of government. Taxing it in any way is just a tax on the individuals who own it. I think it's a branding thing. Americans don't view companies as the sum of people who own them for some reason.
